Spam never reaches your mail server.
SpamFactor receives the mail for your domain, checks every message and passes only the good ones on to the server you already use. Pointing your MX records at us is the whole setup.
Runs on servers in the EU. Works with Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, Plesk and any other mail server.
Every message gets a score.
When a server tries to deliver mail to your domain, it talks to us instead of to your mail server. Before we accept a message, we run it through a series of checks. Each check adds or subtracts points, and the total decides what happens.
Delivered
Goes straight to your mail server.
Delayed
Only with greylisting on: we ask the sender to try again in a few minutes. Spam bots rarely do.
Tagged
Delivered with [SPAM] in front of the subject, so you can filter it into your junk folder.
Refused
Rejected during delivery, so the sender gets a notice. We keep a copy in quarantine for you.
What we check
Viruses are always refused, whatever the score.
- BlocklistsIs the sending server known for sending spam?
- Sender authenticationIs the server allowed to send for this domain (SPF, DKIM, DMARC)?
- Virus scanEvery attachment is scanned for viruses and malware.
- LinksDo links lead where they claim to, and to domains that are not blocklisted?
- ContentA statistical filter that learns from the messages you release or report.
- RecipientsMail for addresses that don't exist on your server is refused at the door.
Nothing disappears without a reason.
Most spam filters make mail vanish and leave you guessing. In your SpamFactor dashboard you can look up every message we handled for your domain, including the ones we refused, and see exactly which checks decided it.
- Search by sender, recipient or subject
- Read refused mail safely, without loading images or links
- Release a message to the inbox with one click
- Mark mail as spam or not spam, and the filter learns from it
Setting up takes two changes.
Your mailboxes, outgoing mail, SPF and DKIM stay exactly as they are. We help you with both steps.

Point your MX records to us
Replace the MX records of your domain with ours. Remove the old ones completely, otherwise spammers can still go around the filter.

Let your mail server trust us
All your mail now arrives from our servers, so your own server should not treat that as suspicious. Where to set that up:
- Microsoft 365 an inbound connector
- Google Workspace an inbound gateway
- Plesk the spam filter allow list
- Other servers trusted networks or allow list
Questions
- What happens if SpamFactor is unreachable?
- Mail servers keep messages they cannot deliver and try again for several days. Nothing is lost; it arrives as soon as we are back.
- What happens to mail you refuse?
- The sender gets a notice that the message was not accepted. A copy of the spam is kept in quarantine, where you can read it, release it to your inbox or mark it as not spam.
- Will you block mail I actually need?
- Rarely, and when it happens you can see it. Doubtful messages are delivered with [SPAM] in the subject instead of being refused, and everything we refuse can be found and released.
- Where is my data stored?
- On servers in the EU. We keep message details (sender, recipients, subject and score) for three months, and copies of spam for 30 days. Read the privacy statement for details.
- Do I need to install anything?
- No. There is no software and nothing changes in your mailboxes or mail programs. You only change your DNS records and one setting on your mail server.
- Can I give my customers or colleagues access?
- Yes. Every login only sees the domains it has access to, so you can give each customer their own account.
Want to try it on one domain first?
Send us the domain you'd like to protect. We set it up with you and check that mail flows correctly before you switch the MX records.
